Scouting During COVID

POSTED FEB 11, 2022

Scouters,

In response to the Government of Alberta’s announcement, both Chinook Council and Northern Lights Council will be moving to the Scouting Stage 5 Pandemic Standard. This change does not have an impact on Scouts Canada’s Vaccine Mandate. The mandate remains in effect and full details can be viewed here.

The use of mandatory face coverings indoors for youth 12 and under, still remains in place as part of the Government’s updated public health measures until February 14th. The full details can be found here.

Controls, including the use of mandatory face coverings indoors, remain in place as part of the Government’s updated public health measures. We recommend physical distancing in areas of congestion, both indoors and outdoors. For indoor activities, there is a government requirement to screen for symptoms. We are reviewing these details and more information will follow. For now, the screening tools are still required as per the Provincial Order, the checklist we recommend is the Alberta Government Daily Checklist.

We will be reviewing all our measures to determine if any additional steps must be taken to ensure the safety of our youth and Scouters.

For now, it’s time to open your groups and get out on an adventure. We strongly encourage you to partner with your relationship manager. They will be calling you to chat about your next adventure, what that looks like, and how they can best support you to get out safely, have fun, and enjoy all that scouting has to offer.

YIS,

NLC & Chinook Council Key 3's
