Scouting During COVID
August 31, 2021
As Northern Lights Council (NLC) prepares for Fall programming, we are advising that both Alberta Councils
will be moving to Stage Four of the Scouts Canada Pandemic stages immediately.
This means that:
In-person Scouting activities should be split into patrols of 8 or fewer. Observe the Patrol Method.
Physical Distancing of 2 meters should be maintained
Self-assessment screening checklists to be completed before arriving at a Scouting Activity
The activities that our Groups value can still be done with some modifications.
These changes are based on the Alberta Government guidelines on the Guidance for activities for youth under 11documents as well as direction from local school boards and municipalities regarding screening and masks.
We must ensure that all Municipal, Provincial, and Federal guidelines are followed, doing our best to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
We strongly encourage reviewing the Scouts Canada Stage Four pandemic guidelines and engage with your youth, families, and Scouters in conversations on safety practices within your group, outlining clear expectations to give everyone the ability to participate safely.
If you have any questions on this, please reach out to your Relationship Manager.
