Friends in Scouting,
As Scouters, you play a key role in bringing our Mission to life in communities across the country. By forming partnerships with youth, you motivate them to discover their independence and capability through outdoor adventure and fun. Thanks to your passion and dedication, you collectively donate over two million hours of your time each year, providing youth with the opportunity to grow, to challenge themselves and to experience countless firsts.
As we begin National Volunteer Week (April 7 – April 13), we would like to thank you all for your commitment and dedication to the Scouting Movement. The theme of this year’s National Volunteer Week is lifting communities—a fitting theme that reflects the contributions you make everyday. Through your commitment to Scouting, you help us bring our Vision of youth making meaningful contributions to creating a better worldto life by lifting people, communities and neighbourhoods.
Every year you provide Scouting youth with the ability to carry out over 2,550 environmental service projects like shoreline clean-ups and tree planting, while also empowering them to roll up their sleeves and contribute over 426,000 community service hours. By fostering a Scout’s strong sense of civic responsibility, you help lift over 2,000 Canadian communities each and every year.
We are proud and encouraged by the positive impact you make on communities from coast - to coast - to coast. Let’s celebrate National Volunteer Week together. Share how your Group is lifting communities using #NVW2019 and tagging @ScoutsCanada to motivate even more Canadians to give back by volunteering with Scouts.
Once again, thank you for supporting your communities, the Scouting Movement, and providing youth with the chance to lead positive change.
Yours in Scouting,
Annabelle Loder, National Youth Commissioner
Andrew Price, CEO and Executive Commissioner
